# Can I take online classes?

Au pairs are strongly encouraged to take in-person classes in their local area. However, if nearby schools are too far or too expensive, you may take online classes  with [pre-approval](https://nl2yi.share.hsforms.com/2bnhWlG1jS1aH9V0vmY8DDw) from Au Pair USA. Online classes must meet these guidelines:

- Offered by an accredited, post-secondary school located in the United States
- Educational in nature
- No more than one online class per semester

Always submit a [class pre-approval form](https://nl2yi.share.hsforms.com/2bnhWlG1jS1aH9V0vmY8DDw) before enrolling or paying for any online course.
