# How do I fill out the IMM 5257 Schedule 1 travel history?

## What IRCC wants on the Schedule 1 form and how to prepare your travel dates.

IRCC may ask you for an [IMM 5257 Schedule 1](https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/application-forms-guides/imm5257-sch1.html) ("Schedule 1") while your application is in progress. It's the most common follow-up request we see, and it mainly asks where you've traveled and lived.

**What goes on the form**

- The location, the month and year of each trip, and a short 13 word reason for travel.
- Where you lived between trips, so there are no gaps in your timeline.
- Both domestic and international travel within the time period IRCC gives you.

**Section 8: Previous Travel.** You'll need to mark "Yes" to open this section, even if your honest answer to the question is "No." Confusing, we know.

**Date format.** Use the Canadian format, year then month. For example: 2012-12 - 2015-05.

**Make a spreadsheet first.** If you've traveled a lot, list all your trips before you start on the form. Some people go through passport stamps, old emails, calendars or photo albums to pin down dates. Be as thorough and precise as you can.

**How far back to go.** The instructions vary from person to person, so follow the ones IRCC sends you. Some people have to list all domestic and international travel from age 18 to today. You can keep your full history in your spreadsheet and copy over the period IRCC asks for.
