What happens if Work & Travel Canada is sold out?
How the waitlist works and other options if you can't get a spot.
When the program sells out, you can go on our waitlist. We expect cancellations every year, so spots do open up.
Why the program sells out
The program has a limited number of placements. The Government of Canada reduced the number of IEC spots available to U.S. citizens for 2025. Combined with an unprecedented surge in Americans wanting to go to Canada in early 2025, that led to an early and unforeseen sell-out.
How the waitlist works
Cancellations happen every year as people change plans, get another status in Canada, and so on. We expect the waitlist to move quickly because current applicants get strict deadlines to move forward, and we cancel their placement if they don't meet them.
We update the waitlist on a rolling basis. We're likely to have a significant update in the second week of February, so check in with us then.
