What are the steps to apply for Work & Travel Canada?

The application process from sign-up to visa decision.

You sign up with us, enter the IEC pool, get nominated, then submit your visa application to the Government of Canada. Start the whole process 23 months before you plan to travel.

  1. Sign up with InterExchange. This reserves your spot for 2024, and we tend to sell out mid-year.
  2. We review your eligibility and send you instructions and next steps.
  3. Create your IEC profile. We give you guidelines for this.
  4. Pay your program fee any time before your intended nomination.
  5. We nominate you, which means we send your profile information to the Government of Canada.
  6. You get your Invitation to Apply and RO letter. Within days of nomination, you receive your Invitation to Apply from IRCC and the RO letter from us. You need both to submit your application.
  7. You complete the Government of Canada visa application. We give you guidance and support.
  8. You wait for a decision. Typical processing times after you submit range from 28 weeks.

For detailed instructions on each step, see the IEC Working Holiday application instructions. You'll find more answers on our Work & Travel Canada FAQ page.
