Can I do a third year of Work & Travel Canada?
IEC allows US citizens a maximum of two work permits.
No. IEC allows US citizens a maximum of two work permits. There's no third work permit and no extension option once you've held two IEC permits.
How the limit works: The Working Holiday Visa (WHV), an open work permit through International Experience Canada (IEC), lets US citizens stay for up to 12 months at a time. You can apply for a second permit, which means up to two one-year permits, for a total of up to 24 months.
Unused time: If you used less than the full 12 months on a permit, you can't extend it or apply to make up the unused time.
Unused LOIs: If you got two LOIs but only activated one permit, you're still eligible to apply. An unused LOI doesn't count as a year of participation.
After your permit expires: You'll need to return home unless you can get another type of status that lets you stay in Canada legally for longer.
